Question:

Reporting Phone Call Harassment

by  |  earlier

Multiple times, day and night, this phone number calls my house under Hackensack, NJ: 201.621.5696

Whenever I pick up, I hear nothing. The caller never leaves a message and when I call the phone number, it says that it is out of service.

Can somebody help me find a way to report this number? I know multiple people experienced the same issue with the same phone number.

  1. It comes back to a house in your same town. You document how many times a day they call and turn it over to the police. It isn't a bussiness or a fax machine it is a house so yes you should call the police.

  2. Call the Police

  3. warn them that you are gonna call the police when they call, that should scare them away, and if they keep calling call the police. hope that helps!

  4. Talk to the police.

  5. Call your local phone company.

Check on the area code serviced by them maybe AT&T, Bell or Al Tel etc.

Tell the correct provider what is happening.

  6. Easy way to get out of this. Report it to your local police, and give them the exact digits of the number. They can work something out with the phone company to find out exactly where they live and maybe give the person a misdemeanor or more.

  7. Call the cops. they can help you deal with it and track down the person who has been harassing you. if you dont wanna do that change your number.

  8. This phone number is issued by Allegiance Telecom, Inc

I would call them and report this to them and ask them to investigate and make it go away. If they can not or will not help, call in the police

  9. Call your local police station and ask them what you can do or if you can block that number

  10. could it be a fax machine calling ur house?

  11. Just talk to the police about it....

  12. something like that is goin on over here in d.c. too polic say that investigation is still under way but i dont think its sometin to get fused about

  13. I've heard that problem in a small company with a mistaken fax number, which stopped after 3 weeks. We took the phone off the hook at night. Now I see no reason not to do that. If you know of a person who might need to wake you, because they feel free to call you at any time, day or night, then offer them your cellphone number for a time. But why tell anyone? Just do it & see if it stops the harassment.

I think reporting it to the police will involve a court order to consent to invade your privacy & monitor your incoming calls. Which is fine & worthwhile if the unwanted calls continue for another month. If this has never happened to you before, a week of this may seem endless, but it might well be simpler to see if it is likely to continue. Ask your phone company for advice on this too.

It also happened once when I worked for a non-profit company - overnight they ran out of ink & paper. So we forwarded the fax number to an unused phone number - it only took two days before the nuisance calls ceased.

  14. If it is on your phone record, the phone company will tell you who it is listed to.  Also, take it to the police and make a complaint.  Usually if it says it is out of service, it means that it is some kind of telemarketer with so many extensions that they make sure there can be no incoming calls.

  15. Contact the phone company, make police reports, find out who it is..then you can file harassment charges
