Required high school credits for college?

Question

I've been looking at how many high school credits you are required to have to get into different colleges.

A lot of them are around 16-18 credits.

I will have at least 24 credits when I graduate.

Will this be a big advantage for me for when I apply to college?

Or will they not see it as that big of a deal?

I'm a senior in high school, by the way.

-like the other answer-er said, it depends on the college. the most important thing is to get all the credits you need to graduate from your highschool, and make sure you take enough of your core classes, and harder level classes.

-for example, if you have all 24 credits, and 4 of those are math, 4 are english, 3(or more) are history, and 3(or more) are science, and say your electives are 4 years of band, journalism, and psych. that's alot better then say 30 credits, with 5 of them study halls, 6 gyms, 2 sciences, 3 maths, 3 englishes, and 3 historys, and a handful of easy and incredibly diverse electives.

-colleges always look to see if you've completed the required number of core classes - math, history, english, and science. most look for 4 math credits, 4 english credits, and at least 3 of each history and science credits. they also like things like 4 consistent years of choir, band, or art. also, electives like journalism, etc. look better then say an extra gym or other really easy class.

-colleges also like higher level classes. so if 3 or 4(or more) of your credits are for ap, honors, or advanced placement classes, it looks really good on an college application.

depends on the college. lower tier colleges will be happy with that, the more selective ones will wonder why not 30?
