Resignation letter and pregnancy?

when you hand in a resignation letter due to your doctor feeling that the job is too hard on you during your pregnancy and a couple complications arose are you supposed to provide proof from your doctor or just hand in the resignation letter and that's it???

  1. Are you quiting or taking a leave of absence? If you are quiting you don't really need to give any reason as to why you are quiting unless you are hoping to get that same job back after the baby is born, if that is the case I would talk with your boss before submitting a letter.

You can supply just your letter of resignation to your employer that should be just fine.  It may be in your best interest to provide a copy of your doctors recommendation so that there are no doubts left with your employer.  This way there are no bridges burnt and you can still use them for future reference.

  3. Well, resignation is resignation...nobody needs proof of anything, for you to quit.  Technically, you don't even need to give them a letter...just saying, "I quit" is enough.

    However, there should be a happy medium, that allows your doctor to put you on disability, so that you can get at least partial income throughout the rest of your pregnancy.  In theory, this also means that your job would be available for you after the pregnancy.  You would certainly need documentation from the doctor for this.
