That document needs to be updated to match our times. Everything else in this country gets an update... computer technology, book series, I think it is time that we rewrite and revise the constition. WHAT do YOU think?

  1. NO

    leave it alone

The Bush administration has already "watered" it down enough

  2. I don't think it matters.  It's ignored by the politicians/lawyers as is they just pretend it says whatever they want according to their ambitions.

  3. I completely agree.

As Thomas Jefferson once said, "“I am not an advocate for frequent changes in laws and constitutions, but laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind. As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, new truths discovered and manners and opinions change, with the change of circumstances, institutions must advance also to keep pace with the times. We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which fitted him when a boy as civilized society to remain ever under the regimen of their barbarous ancestors.”

  4. Yes, but who would you trust to write the changes???

  5. Its called Amending the Constitution. It should not be rewritten or tossed aside. What Amendments need revision? When is the last time you looked at the Constitution?

A bunch of Conservatives? I dont think the Conservative movement was around in 1776. Study up on history.

  6. the process for it to be amended is already in place....another example of the framers' foresight and wisdom.

now, if you're saying it should be changed on your behalf based on how you feel this instant without any work or effort, just because you feel that way....

....well, pandering to our indulgent times isn't necessarily what I'd call and "upgrade"...

  7. I'm a political science major so this question really intrigued me.

Revise, how so and what exactly will be changed? By means of amending the constitution or by completely starting over and in essence creating a new country?

The U.S. is the oldest democracy and the country that has had the most success with it.  This is because the  u.s. constitution, by being so short and flexible (compared to countries like India and Russia or  the U.K. which does not have a written constitution at all) allows change and interpretation leading it to change incredibly.

This country looks NOTHING like what the founding father's originally planned e.g. the u.s. used to be a federal country (state and national gov't had nothing do do w/each other) which is something that we have not been since the great depression. Though some of these changes may not be the most ideal, I don't think that creating a new country or significantly altering the constitution is the answer.
