I am considering buying a house that needs to be rewired and was wondering about how much it would cost. The house was built in 1950, its a 2 bed 1 bath. 1088 square feet. Also wondering about the price on getting the backyard refenced( I plan on getting a husky and from what I hear they are escape artists so its recommended to have a fence that is buried in the ground a few feet) The house is in terrell, tx(about 30 min outside of dallas) here is the link for the house http://www.realtor.com/realestate/terrell-tx-75160-1098963856/

Thanks for your help!

  1. You really need to talk to a local electrician or three about the rewiring project.  Local codes come into play which we can only speculate about.

Also, if rewiring means just a new service, then look at 2 to 5000 dollars, if the whole house needs new wire, you will need the services of an electrician and someone else to fix all the holes in the walls after the electrician is done.

    Too many variables to guess.

The fence is a bit easier, though digging in the soil a few feet can be expensive depending on access to the yard (machine dig faster than humans) and what is buried there (electrical, cable, sewer, water, etc).  Call a local fencing company, they should be able to give you a guesstimate.

  2. well i'm not sure about most of that, but i would call the lack of an inspection a red flag right away. have it inspected.
