Ribbon on shoes?

I'm not really sure what catogary this goes under, but I bought a pair of purple 'bellet'/dolly shoes] and plan on sewing some purple ribbon at the back to make them look like proper ballet shoes, for everyday use.

I was silyl and thought I could use a sewing machine for this, turns out the shoe doesnt really work with the shape of my sewing machine, so I cant acctually get the part I want to sew, under the needle! Duh! >_< lol.

I was thinking of hand sewing the ribbon to the shoe, but I dont think this would be strong enough, do you think using a glue gun would work? If I was just careful about what weather I'd wear the shoes in, and try to keep them dry.

Or any other sugegstions would be great.

I just need to know how to stick the ribbon to the shoe! lol :)

thankyou!

  1. ~ I would use E6600 glue. It is a permenent bound glue. You can get it at home depot or micheals. Fabric glue is goos but still can lose the bond over use/time and gets hard and seperates.. E6600 will actually stick the fabric fibers to each other. It is a glue strog enough to hold metal to metal or glass which are hard surfaces to attach. It comes in a tube like toothpaste. put a dab on a paper towel, use a tooth pick to apply a few dots and it will last as long as the shoes.

  2. Very cute Idea!

It sounds like you have it all figured out.

I would def. hand sew it on there as well and the glue.

It wont hurt anything, it's just make it more secure!

  3. I would either use Fabric glue, or there is fabric tape that you can buy and iron the ribbon on it, or hand stitch the ribbon to the shoe.

  4. use fabric glue but also put a few hand stitches in too

  5. You could try hand sewing with a needle made for upholstery - it is thicker and stronger and has a curve, making it easier to push through thicker material. This can be purchased at a fabric store or the fabric section of your local discount store. You could try hot glue - the worst that will happen is that it may fall off and have to be replaced. You could avoid this by checking it periodically. There is also a very strong glue, either apoxy or Gorilla glue that are both available in crafts, home improvement, or discount stores that may do the trick. Another suggestion would be to take the ribbon to a shoe repair shop and ask them to sew it on for you - they have the machines that would fit the shoe and would probably charge you a very small fee!

  6. You can get fabric glue.

It holds strong so you dont need to sew!

    :] good luck,

    because that sounds cute.
