Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer has blasted the two-game ban set on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international Franck Ribery following his red card in the German Cup triumph over FC Augsburg on Tuesday. The former 'European Footballer
of the Year' feels that the punishment was way over the top.
The German Football Association imposed the ban on the French midfielder for two DFB-Pokal fixtures for improper behaviour. As a result of this, he will miss the two legs of the semi-final clash and will only play in the cup if
his side reaches the final.
Nevertheless, Sammer cannot believe how only Ribery was sent-off and his rival was given just a yellow card. Therefore, he hit out at match official Thorsten Kinhofer for discriminating against the Der FCB player. He admitted that
he fails to understand the referees’ decision.
The former DFB member stated that Thorsten should be the point of discussion instead of Ribery as he made a grave error in the cup game. He said that the official has not been criticised for his role in the match, despite having
a really bad day.
"I personally do not respect (the decision) and I am furious that there is one man in all of this who had a rotten day, yet he is not being discussed in the slightest," he was quoted as saying in an interview.
"That is what I cannot understand. The fact that the referee had an absolutely catastrophic day has been completely ignored and not been assessed," he added.
"There cannot even be any discussion that Koo, for me, did exactly the same thing as Franck Ribery," the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfB-Stuttgart-c40879 and Borussia Dortmund central midfielder finally concluded.
Ribery was handed a red card booking for slapping Koo Ja-Cheol in the face after committing a foul against him. Interestingly, the South Korean also had a part to play and raised his hands but was only shown a yellow. Sammer feels
that Koo should also have received his marching orders.
