Riding boots?

im going to start riding lessions some time this summer, and i was wondering what kind of boots/shoes would be good for me (im a beginner and i am 14). if you know how much the kind you recomended costs please tell me♥ thanks

I would ask the instructor or manager where you will be taking your lessons.  Being that you are new to riding (It's a great sport!!) before you start investing in "riding" shoes you may want to make sure that you like riding!!  So, for beginners instructors may just require you to wear a hard soled shoe with a small heel for the first few lessons.  Then, depending upon the style of riding would determine the type of boot.  I would consult with your instructor for their requirements.  Shoes are only one aspect of proper attire....

Pants- Jeans can bunch up and the seam on the inside can be uncomfortable..normally in english because you have more of a bend in the knee.  If riding western jeans are acceptable but I would truy to find a pair with a small or no inside seam.

Don't wear too loose fitting pants as you are going to want to feel your  horse and will be learning about leg pressure.  That is why if you look at properly attired riders, most, even western riders are wearing close fitting, stretchy pants.

Shirt- comfortable but not loose and baggy.  

WEAR A HELMET...I ride with gloves.

Where I ride..we are required to wear jodphurs or breeches or Kentucky jod's.  A tucked in shirt.  Either jodphur boots or field boots..long hair tied in a ponytail or back away from the face.

If you would tell us the style of riding you plan to do, then we could be more specific.

I would reccomend Ariats, but it depends on what you have to spend.

I don't know about western, sorry.

Are you trying for English or Western.

I can't realy help you with English.

But for Western I like Durango boots.

I wear a 3'' high heel with a spur ledge. Sometimes known as Bronc boots. Hope I helped.

If you are going to be riding English then I'd actually suggest a cheap pair of rubber long boots. Somewhere in the £20 area.

At your age your feet could still grow and your legs will probably change shape too so it would be a waste to buy expensive boots that may not fit in 6 months or so. ( Ag - I sound like frugal parent !)

I actually like Ariats for both English and Western (they make both styles).  But they can be pricey.  I think they start at about $60 (if you're lucky) and go up from there.

omg, first off, congrats on starting lessons! ^.^ i started taking lessons last summer when i was 14 :D For english riding boots, i love ariat, as for whether to get tall or short boots, it's all a matter of preference, personally i prefer the long boots, here's their website:

i recommend ariat or justin brand boots. they are like around $150+
