Hi,

I have about 10 days as I am taking a break and am looking to drive down somewhere. Not been able to decide options to go. Preferably beach or mountains... love driving in a brand new scorpio that I have recently bought. Any suggestions... ??

  1. it depends on your budget n whats the distance your willing to travel .

mountains : you can consider ooty or kodaikanal which is nearer to bangalore even sakaleshpur

beaches try my all time destination goa or vizag

all of the above are within 300-800 aprox

  2. Dear Friend,

I suggest you take your new scorpio hilly region of Coorg and from there you can reach Mangalore. You can explore different beaches of Karnataka like Ullal, Panambur, Someshwar, Malpe, Marawante, Murudeshwar. Then you can different places Uttara Kannada

I wish u happy and safe journey.

  3. KRS - KRISHNARAJASAGAR DAM AND BRINDAVAN GARDENS

KRS is the largest dam built on the river Kaveri in Karnataka. It is around 130km from Bangalore. It was built in pre-independence time by famous diwan of the then Maharaja of Mysore - Sir M Visvesvraya who is well known for engineering many more such large scale projects. The reservoir of the dam looks endless and seems to have oceanic proportions. The wall of the dam is several kilometers long. Just besides the dam is the well known scenic garden - Brindavan Gardens. It has numerous fountains that it is known for. The best attraction is the musical fountain which attracts a lot of people during the weekends.

Krishnaraja Sagar dam is close to Ranganathittu and Srirangapattna. A trip to KRS can be combined together with a visit to Ranganathittu. Take Mysore road from Bangalore and drive for around 100kms till you reach Srirangapattna. Drive further on the highway for a few more minutes and turn right. This is the same road that takes you to Ranganathittu. Continue driving here for 10 minutes and you will see a right turn to KRS which is further 10 minutes drive from here. Best time to visit would be Sunday evening to view the musical fountains. You can start on Sunday morning and visit Ranganathittu, come back to Srirangapattna and visit Tippu's grave and Sangama, and then go to KRS in the evening and return to Bangalore.

  4. my dear if you want to travell to some mountains then in south india  the most famous hill place is valaparai area in tamilnadu . you can enjoy valaparai, thekkady, munnar, kumarkom in 10 days . the road condtion from banglore to all these area are good so that only i am suggesting these places.  or if you want to go to interior karnataka then it will be coorg area but the road condition is not good as in national highway towards munnar. and if you wish to go to beach then try goa but here also after belguam road condition is very bad or go to vishakapattnam where you have both beaches and mountains which is a very long drive from banglore here you have road mostly national highway except interior roads to the tourist place other roads will be good.
