He said...."I want to be the best player in the world, and it's never going to happen at Madrid".

Why the h**l he chose City when the whole world knows that it's a mid-table club that haven't won any silverware in the last 10 years or so....

a) Money-isn't it obvious

b) Pride-doubt it

c) Any of your choice-pls explain

  1. Robinho chose Man City due to the money. When money comes,it may change for some players but not others.Ronaldinho originally wanted to go to Milan to join his fellow Brazilians Kaka,Pato,Luiz Ronaldo,Cafu,Dida and Serginho. Moreover Milan had been chasing him for two years.Man City offered more money but Ronaldinho still chose to go to Milan.Similarly Man United had been chasing Berbatov even before he joined Tottenham. Before the start of last season,Berbatov wanted to join Man United, and Man United desperately needed Berbatov to finish off chances in the final third.Tottenham wanted Man United to pay S$90 million, and were reluctant to sell their star player. They even accepted Man City's offer of S$97.5 million and even considered reporting Man United to the Premier League. However Berbatov still chose Man United.Robinho's case was different. He was so unhappy as being used as part of Real Madrid's pursuit of Man United that he wanted to go to Chelsea and work with Scolari.Real Madrid were unwilling to sell Robinho to Chelsea. When Man City came in in the last minute, they offered Real Madrid more money, and Robinho became a Man City player. Therefore,Robinho was tempted by money while Berbatov and Ronaldinho weren't.

  2. How blunt are you? I'm sorry but...

A club doesnt just form and and get credited with trophies...They WIN them?

It only takes 1 year to win a trophy

City were a mid table team last season...whos to say they will be this season?

We havent won a trophy for well over 10 years more like 27 years! 1981 FA cup was the last real piece of silverware.

    a) Yes money will have played a part obviously - football's been ruined by money.

    c) He moved to city because we've got the (money and) quality to become the next manchester united

It sickens me that our owners are planing to buy a whole new team (pretty much)

It won't be manchester city anymore.

  3. Yes it's so obvious it's money. I really thought he was going to Chelsea, it was a such a shock. I guess Man C will be getting some good players now with their new found wealth.

  4. It's all for money.

Plus, I think it gives him his best oportunity of showing off his ability.

Remember how Anelka looked incredible playing for Bolton, but in actual fact he's an average player. Same goes for Robinho. If he'd gone to Chelsea he wouldn't have made it. Man City will get more for their 30m than Chelsea would have gotten for their 30m.

  5. here is what happened in my view (kinda long but worth it i think)

he wanted to leave because he was right he would never be the world's best player playing there because he was always second choice over Ruud and Raul who are old and that team has alot of egos

he needs a club that will honest his talents now he wanted Chelsea which would have been perfect since they need the strikers and will honest him well but his move to City was

desperation and a bit of a F U from Real because

they know he wanted a Chelsea move and they offered money but City offered more and since he said "i just want to leave" Real were like fine we want as much as we can get for you then so we will sell your butt to City

    so off he goes

now honestly this isn't that bad a move for him since he will be the "star boy" and will be able to basically grow as he wants where at Chelsea there may have been a pecking order he can now afford more playing time and so on

look at what happened with Ronaldinho he wanted to go to Milan but City offered more money but he wound up at Milan because that was his choice so i think Robinho was kinda screwed but he was desparate to leave and with an offer like that he must have just said "F it im outtie"

  6. It's clear from what Robinho said over the last few days that he just wanted to leave Real Madrid.  Chelsea said today they refused to meet the asking price which meant only Manchester City were left in the bidding.  So I think he made a smart move rather than just sit around on the bench at Real.

As for the "mid-table" thing - I would not be sure about that.  They are going to spend BIG.  They have buckets of very serious money.  You can read various articles about how they plan on really turning the club around.

  7. Robinho showed the most stupidity that I just cannot deal with.

He moved from a top top club to a mid table club. He was long linked with Chelsea but somehow the money City were offering caught his eye.

That a very huge sign that he is greedy and is only playing for the money.

No way he's targeting that "title" as he said on goal.com.

  8. Firstly you should read some of the other answers on here. Stupidity is jumping to rash judgements without knowing the facts. Maybe you're a Chelsea fan thats feeling bitter and thats why you write a scathing question?

C - He wasn't playing at Madrid, just bench warming. You don't become the worlds best player on the bench. Right now City appear to have a bright future with their new owners, as rich Arabs do not do things by halves. They will be busy making quality signings in January.
