Liverpool boss, Brendan Rodgers has revealed he plans on bringing in more players, in order to strengthen the squad ahead of their new campaign.
Since taking over the reins of the Merseyside club in June, the manager has made just two signings. He acquired the services of the young Italian striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 and Joe Allen from Swansea City.
According to reports, the Reds are currently in the transfer market for Fulham’s Clint Dempsey, and are also monitoring the situation of the juvenile http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristian-c9491 Tello.
Now that the Reds will be without the services of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 will seek more acquisitions as their replacement.
Even though the club might appear to have lagged behind their top flight rivals in the transfer activities, Rodgers claimed that efforts had been underway to sign new players, ever since he arrived at Merseyside.
The 39-year old hinted at the arrival of a couple of new faces over the next week, and admitted it was pertinent that they patch up the squad in order to meet their objectives next season.
He told the reporters in an interview, “The work has been continual right the way through to try and get in players that fit the profile of Liverpool and the team. Like I say, I would hope there would be a couple more signings before the end of August.”
Liverpool completed their pre-season campaign with a 3-1 win against Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday. Since assuming the management, Rodgers has supervised his team in 6 games, which included two competitive Europa League fixtures against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Gomel-c39117.
With the Reds set to commence their 2012/13 league campaign on Saturday against West Bromwich Albion, the Ulsterman expressed his satisfaction with his team’s preparation and was optimistic of a good start.
“It's been difficult because a lot of the players returned at different times, but we've played two competitive games already and I've been encouraged and enthused by what I've seen... we'll look to get started with a nice positive result,” he added.
