Rodgers vs Favre, Fair?

why are people questioning an open QB battle between Rodgers and Favre? Because Rodgers will lose? If hes not the better guy then he should just leave when his contact is up

I'd dearly love to stay OUT of this one, and maybe Brett should have also!  I cannot understand why he wanted to come back at this "late date."  It only screws up the team's plans.  He cares nothing for the team, but only himself?

I can't figure this one out!

I think you guys are all wrong.  The "story" in the media is that it will be a competition.  Yet we do not know anything official yet.  I believe that Favre will get his job back no matter what.  Even if Green Bay goes through the motions, Favre will start for the Packers on opening day.  Even if Rodgers outplays Favre in preseason, Favre will get the most snaps in practice to prepare him for the regular season.  You cannot split up the snaps and expect both QBs to be fully prepared.  You have to name a starter as soon as possible and stick with him.

That starter WILL BE FAVRE.

The Packers have finally come to their senses.  After all, Favre will take Green Bay to a Super Bowl victory.  It does not matter how unfair it is to Rodgers.  What matters is winning a championship.  Aaron Rodgers will not get the job done.

Of course, nothing is official yet.  Ted Thompson might still pull something stupid.  Who knows with him?

But if Favre is on the field and in camp, you KNOW who the best QB is in Green Bay.

Give me all the thumbs down you want.  It won't matter.  I have been right nearly every time.  Maybe that's why you guys don't like me.  Thompson called the Vikings and tried to make a deal.  That might still happen.  If it does not...

Brett Favre will be the QB on the team that goes.  You better believe that Favre has more fire pumping through his veins than any player in the NFL right now.  He is one dangerous player.  I expect him to put up MVP numbers.  If you have a TV set and there's a game to watch, watch Favre this season.

I question it because Favre believe he can walk into GB and just TAKE his job back after he RETIRED. Bottom line is, he is very selfish. I don't see how you cannot see this being unfair to A-Rodg

favre should win. the packs would be better with him as the started. but the head coach has a big head and wants to prove a point i guess and its not going to be a fair fight. i bet rodgers starts the season has the starter but after a few bad games favre gets his job back. favre will lose is record of 200 and some games started. watch and see. and im not a packs fan.

Look at it this way someone at your job retires, the boss tells you that you have his position. You're keyed up all summer and have worked hard to be there. Oops the old retired guy comes back and snatches the job and the boss sanctions it. What would you do? Sit there and smile and take it saying oh, okay I'll just sit here and smile. I dont think so. And how can Rodgers (or any player for that matter) trust anything the Packers managment tells him now?

Rodgers is not competing with Favre, he is competing with Favres history and records.  The problem is no matter what Rodgers do he will not get a fair shot because the fans and media of Greenbay have  cuddled Brett so much over the past few years that he can do no wrong.  How can Rodgers compete against that, plus, he was told he was the starter and now he is no longer the starter its up for grabs.  This move will cost the Packers organization a lot of creditiblity, I am disappointed that they allowed a primma donna to hold them hostage and then they caved.  If they don't trade him the management just told the team that Farve is running the show.   If this season is a bust, Murphy, Thompson, McCarthy and Favre need to be removed

Rodgers was already named the starting qb for this season and for the Packers to do a flip- flop and have a open competition is just wrong because we know they will probably pick Favre. Mabye the Packers will grow some and leave Rodgers as the starter but I doubt it very seriously.

People are looking at one last great run from Favre and before last year everyone forgot that Favre was playing horrible. With 29 INTs and 24 INTs. And winning only 5 games. But OH HE IS A HOFer SO HE MUST START. Give me a break.

Aaron Rodgers was GUARUNTEED a starting spot by the Packers no matter what! And now the Packers have pulled off the biggest flip-flop in the history of the NFL. Now they're saying that the spot is up for grabs! How unfair.

People are upset because they know Favre ISN'T as great as they want to believe. They think because he has a history he should get the job handed to him.

you sound sorry as h**l dude. Go back and re-read what you just said. All you're asking is IF IF IF, blah blah blah. You're looking over the main point. Favre didn't have to retired when he knew he wasn't ready. Don't come back 2 weeks before training camp crying you want your job back. Thats like if someone came and took YOUR promotion at work when you were to get it because they were better. Its not granted Favre will take the Packers to the SB. As I said last night in one of my question. IF the only reason why you want Favre back is because you BELIEVE he is the only option to taking the Packers to the SB, then why in the h**l didn't he do it this past season?

No one should be guaranteed a starting spot in the NFL. If that was the case then thats GBs fault, not Favres. Yes its fair. Favre will win the starting job, and i hope he has a career year to shut up all the a..holes
