Rolaids and Four Year Olds?

Question

When my little sister was about four years old my mom used to let her have one Rolaid every once in a while. I know they have lots of calcium in them but they also say not to give to children under six unless directed by a doctor so I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if this was probably okay or what the possible side affects could be.

I am sure that this was probably ok but if your overly concerned about it you could call the poison control center and they could give you more information.

Rolaids are pretty much harmless.  I know recently my 3 year old son found a bottle of them and ate like 15 at one point.  I called poison control freaking out, and they told me that it was fine, and wouldn't do anything to my son but maybe make him a bit gassy.  That was after eating 15!  I am sure one here and there won't hurt a four year old at all.  It shouldn't become a habit, because if a 4 year old is having heartburn there are larger issues than eating rolaids.
