Question:

Root canal or pull a tooth?

I just recently came back from my dentist. I apparently have a bad chipped back molar (last one back on upper left side) and it has some bad decay on it. Now my choices are to either pull the tooth or go through a root canal.

I'm debating what I should do. On the one hand, the dentist is strongly urging a root canal and doesn't really see pulling it as a solution that has any positivies minus it being cheap. He stresses that it's better to save the tooth via root canal than it would be to pull it.

On the other hand, the tooth is the far back so it's not visible by smile or anything really so pulling it won't really be visible. Also, the tooth is my only crooked one so I figure it may be best to just take it out as a crown would still make it rather crooked I think.

The question is which choice would be best and why?

  1. i would say root canal. even though no one would be able to see it if you got it pulled, it sucks to be missing a tooth. no one wants that. i would get a root canal because that is just when they remove the dead nerves inside the tooth.

  2. Which tooth is is? Is it a wisdom tooth? If you get a root canal, you will need a crown too.
