Question:

Rough Plate Bottems?

I just bought a set of dishes and the bottem of them are really rough. I'm afraid if i set them on top of each other they will scratch. Will it help if I use sand paper and sand them down smoother? or would that cause the plate to chip or something later in life?

What grain sandpaper should I use if it will work?

  1. I bought a cheap set of dishes at the discounters for the patio and noticed the same thing, it is almost like they aren't finishing the bottoms.  I used really super fine sand paper on mine which helped, but I still put a piece of foam between each one when I store them in the BBQ island outside.  It didn't cause mine to chip, but I just couldn't get them smooth enough not to fear that stacking them would not cause them to scratch each other.
