I had a young royal python up until the other day when he died :( however i got another female royal which is just over 2 and a half foot. i already had 2 medium sized exo terra hide caves. but because this royal is bigger than the other she gets in but the cave lifts off the floor lol. what size would be better the large or extra large?

  1. I would make my own hide. It will be a lot cheaper. I know that the caves are about $40-$45 here. The wood to make a hide MIGHT be close to $10. Just make it like a miniature dog house. A box big enough for the snake to get in, and put a hole big enough for the snake to crawl through on one side.

  2. Just get a medium sized terracota flower pot and expand the underside hole. Turn it upside down and you got a tight hide that will fit the snake because its vertical, so it can coil. Two birds in one stone, its also a lot cheaper.

  3. Why waste money on hides from a local pet store. In fact they over charge you. You can build one out of Lego's. Just make sure you wash it before putting it in your royal's terrarium. You can also make on out of cardboard. Doesn't matter what it looks like. As long as you make your python happy. Theres a lot of ideas out there.

Good Luck on making hides for your Royal Python.

  4. Get an extra large, because she will grow a little bit bigger.

  5. Ball pythons like small, tight hideouts. They feel more secure.

In the wild, they wedge themselves into tight rock crevices.

  6. just get a shoe box and cut a hole in the side of it

that what i did and make ball python loves it .
