Question:

Running with leg pains?

I have been running for about two months now. I ran two 5K races and I want to decrease my time. Here is the problem: As soon as I start running I get pain in my knees and on the side of legs near my ankles. I have flat feet and I got running shoes made for flat feet (Brooks Beast). Still I always have to stop after about 10minutes and walk a litlle and then run again. I always stretch before and after. I am getting really frustrated. Thanks all

  1. running might just make it worse

so i would wait until it gets better

and if doesnt get better then go see a doctor

if he says its bad then do what he says!

  2. You need to ICE.

Don't worry, most people have to ice a lot.

Get bags of ice (kinda like the Wal-Mart shopping bags) and put then on your knees, calves, and ankles and wrap a towel around each ice bag so it won't melt too quickly.

Ice for about 10 minutes. And then wait 10 minutes and ice again for another 10 minutes [so that you won't cause nerve damage].

Another option would be just icing your knees,

and using a bucket and filling it with water and ice and putting your legs in [sitting down].

Ice helps muscle inflammation, which is probably the reason your legs hurt so much.

    Much luck! :]

  3. Go see an orthopedic doctor, and don't run too much until you get it checked out. If it is your flat feet that is causing problems and Orthopedic doctor will fit you for shoe Orthodox. Sometimes the sneakers mad for flat feet just are not enough.

Or maybe it is from doing too much too fast. You should gradually work on decreasing your time but also increase distance. Make sure you take complete rest days and cross training days.
