Russia and georgia conflict?

Im trying to figure this out a little bit better. From what i know Georgia invaded South Ossetia(which broke away from georgia and russia made the people citizens of russia) and now russia is trying to free South Ossetia. I understand we should help Georgia but i dont think messing up our relations with russia over somthing georgia started in the first place is right. We should ask russia to stop its air strikes on georgia.

But my other question is is Russia invading other parts of georgia other than South Ossetia and the other provence?

If the case of Georgia invading South Ossetia is correct and russia defending the area, i dont see much of that wrong of russia(other than airstrikes outside of South Ossetia in georgia, for reasons i dont know why but im sure MAY have a reason for happening.)

Please post any info that would help me understand better and correct me on ANY INFO i may be wrong about. Non of the stuff above im saying is correct or incorrect. Just info i got on my research of the georgia/russian conflict.

  1. Russia is trying to get to Georgia's oil which is one of the largest exporters to china...which will make china mad then 0.0 world war III

  2. I agree with condor to an extent. But to be doubly sure one must look at both sides of the story because their will be massive propaganda on both sides. Not only on USA side but also Russia's

  3. theyre liberating gorgia

just like the usa liberated iraq

    also... theyre repossessing their oil

  4. yea Russia trying to steal Georgians Oil , thats why other countries keepin their mouth shut... Just like the Iraq war

    cant help the Georgians...

  5. Russia is NOT invading Georgia. Georgia is aggressor was directed by criminal and war criminal Bush administration to invade small republic of South Ossetia where Russian peacekeeping forces were stationed since 1992. Russia only helps South Ossetia to drive Georgian invaders away. Our government on purpose keeps spreading false and misleading propaganda in order to make Russia look bad. For your information Georgian puppet president Saakashvili is a former attorney from NY.

  6. A few things are wrong with the Russian response besides moving out of the so-called free areas.  The borders of what is now Georgia were established by the old Soviet Union and then made Georgia am autonomous region so they could join the UN and get the Soviets more votes, when the Soviet Union broke up Georgia had the audacity to exercise their independence and get more pro-western.  When the regions in question "revolted" against Georgia the Russians recognized them as independent areas and gave them Russian citizenship; only Russia recognized them as "independent" and if they are an independent country why make them Russian citizens?  The Georgians did not use good sense in trying to regain control of the areas forcefully but at the same time they are still considered by everyone except Russia as part of Georgia so it is really an internal matter.  The Russians have invaded Georgia proper and are not going to stop until they have control of the government in my opinion.  Russia can't make a countries borders and say it is independent then say that part of that country in now free and give the people Russian citizenship in any logical or legal manner.  The Soviet Union made those areas part of Georgia, one reason was to help with voting and to ensure the region stayed under Soviet control but when the country frees itself from the Soviet Union those areas are now Russian again because Russia gave citizenship to the people and says so.

  7. NATO (western powers) are obviously supporting Georgia, why else would Russia set up a naval blockade? To keep the Georgians inside Georgia? LOL

  8. You are correct for the most part. Russia has implemented air strikes and destroyed two of the Georgian bases w/in Georgia. Saakashvili is a big liar and manipulator, he really thought US was going to jump up and rescue him, probably the biggest military blunder in modern history.

  9. Depends on who you listen to, Russia claims it isn't invading.  Georgia says Gori and the towns of Senaki, Zugdidi and Kurga have been captured.

AP crews were on the highway out of Gori as people streamed out and saw many civilian cars burning as they came under fire.  Russian bombers are flying all over the country as they try to stop all communication to/from the outside.

They've essentially split the country and have a separatist group in the west taking control of villages as they roll through.

The start was apparently seperatists shelling Georgia, the attack was in response to that, then Russia countered and is using it as an excuse to punish the country that's been an annoyance for years and a potential staging site for Bush's missile defense shield.

The Soviets, I mean Russia, is still afraid of that.

  10. After the S.Ossetia was freed from georgian forces its planes and artillery continued to attack S.Ossetia from Georgian territory.

So the Russia will probably create some safe area around S.Ossetia to prevent artillery fire to keep civilians safe. This area will be kept until the Georgia will sign the peace agreement.

Also military and some strategic objects that help military will be destroyed all over the Georgia.
