I got two russian dwarf hamsters and was told that they were both male. They weren't both male so we have six babies. The boys now live with their dad and the girls live with their mom. The girls seem to fight alot - the mom rolls the babies over and licks them. I think that she is just cleaning them but they put up such a fuss and are often chased into the nest by the mom. Please help

  1. Female hamsters should never be kept together. They will have to be separated, as hamsters will fight to the death. Now that you know the difference between male and female, anatomically speaking, isn't it obvious?

  2. Dwarf hamsters can live together any s*x.

I have two FEMALE roborovski dwarf hamsters and they get on perfectly and have done for a year and a bit.

Maybe the mother can't handle all the baby's as its prob her first birth.

Try to take two or three out and into a new cage and see how they get on.

Maybe he mum just misses her old roomate ( the dad ) and needs time to accept her sorroundings.

Either way good luck hope you work things out.

  3. thats the prob. with pet stores.    I find female hamsters of all breeds seem to be more aggressive.

you shoulnt keep more than 2 females in one cage...how many females are in the cage??

  4. same with my pets..... keep them seperated! u can put a small fence or something B4 one gets hurt.
