Russian history???help!!!!?

ok, here goes. i need somone to explain in simple terms the war with afganistan in 1979--then the complete russian history reguarding the 1998-1999 changes that were eratic in Russia. many people were rendered penniless when the ruble fell and some people became very wealthy overnight. what was Gorbechev standing and a bit of history of Boris Yeltzen on the economy and his standing for Russia. for anyone who can explain theroughly.. i appreciate it. i know a little but not a lot. thank you.

That is a very complicated question. One that would actually take up a whole semester's worth of class time to fully explain. Russia invaded Afghanistan and the US went to help defend it. Then the war (or whatever you want to call it) became a stalemate that lasted for quite some time without any advancement from either side. Turns out that the economic stress this war was causing to the Soviets was more than they could handle and they pretty much had to use all of their resources to keep it up, which is how their economy became so unstable and was not fixed until only recently. This is very brief and you would have to research this yourself to get a full understanding of what happened and why, but that should help you.

i know more about the effects on other nations like Moldova and Romania but thats cause im Romanian but from what i hear

they are Barbaric Slavs

and they killed more of there own people than any war they ever fought
