S-video and composite cables?

I want to convert my new lcd tv / did player/ satalite receiver to s-video. I currently am using composite cables. Would I be able to buy just a single S-Video cable and use my current composite cables to carry the audio signal? Or do I need to buy the entire set (red white and yellow)?

I've done exactly that on my setup - I have a single very good S-Video cable, bought from BlueJeans Cable, see link below, which carries the video signal, and I have a standard RCA to RCA red and white audio lead for the sound.

If you have a three plug cable (red, white and yellow) then just leave the yellow unplugged each end.

Yes, you can just buy an S-video cable to carry the video signal (that is all it carries anyhow) and use the composite (RCA) cables (with the red/white plugs) to carry the audio.
