Of course call him. I mean really whats it going to hurt? It's better to call him and find out he doesn't like you then to find out in person.  If you are to worried to call then talk to your brother about it.

Why not.  The worst that can happen is that he rejects you, you go into a deep depression and console yourself with drugs and end up a crack w***e.  Or you may just have a nice chat and end up friends.
