  1. SO NOT FAIR

  2. First of all... FAIR to what?  Haven't your parents ever said these words to you..."Life is not fair!"??  You are the kid, they are the parents... they are the authority.  If they say you don't drive until next Christmas, you have to respect their wishes.  Besides... driving is a priviledge, not a right.  Yes, this is totally fair!

  3. Yes, snow and ice can be exremelly dangerous. My only accident was in the snow because I didn't have proper instruction on how to handle poor weather conditions.

  4. DUDE SERIOUSLY!!! this is so fair. you really still have no experience driving. master driving on dry land first. just take a look at the news and see all of those wrecks because of icy road conditions, those people have probably been driving for more years than you have been alive and they still don't have enough experience. your parents know what they are doing. one day you will be doing it for your kids.

  5. Honestly, yes.  You've never had the chance to drive in ice, and it takes some practice.  h**l, even grown people driving slow can still get into a wreck with their truck or SUV in the winter due to overconfidence.  Be patient.  They probably don't think you've learned the responsibility to drive with other people in those conditions.  At least they care.  Learn to drive in the Summer before you tackle winter.  It'll be safer for you and safer for your friends....and most importantly...safer for the rest of us who've been tapped or almost hit by teenage drivers....lol.  I'd swear some of them are born either blind or without depth perception.

  6. I think it's fair. It's not worth driving knowing how worried they will be at home, and how dangerous those icy roads are for a new driver. It's better to be safe than sorry!!! Just wait a little bit longer and don't get mad at them, I'd do the same to my kid. Also if you get into an accident or God forbid injure your passenger, your parents would be 100% responsible. If your friends parents sued them, they could get sued for every penny they're worth including their house so actually they'd be stupid to let you as a new driver drive in ice and snow especially with other passengers in the vehicle.

  7. Statisctically speaking, you could be 50 and have just gotten your licence and banning you would probably still be a good idea. You'd still lack experience, no matter what age you were.

I agree, however, that just banning you is stupid. Not because you own a vehicle; don't EVER assume you have a _right_ to drive. You don't. No one does. Not your parents, not your driver's ed instructor, no one. When people assume they have a god-given right to do things, they tend to stop paying attention when they do them, and that's when they do stupid things. I think your parents should teach you how to drive in the snow since snow is obviously a fact of life where you live. Instead of keeping you away from it, they should teach you to deal with it properly so you know. If they don't, when the h**l are you supposed to learn, exactly?

Perhaps it would be beneficial to ask them to teach you to drive in bad weather conditions so you can learn how and be a safer driver. Maybe when you ask them you should mention that and mean it. I would have no problem teaching you to drive in c**p weather, but I would make goddamn sure you actually knew what you were doing.

  8. You just got your license and you have zero experience especially on the snow and ice and by yourself, wait because life is just to short.

  9. You can be mad at them for a long time, look back on this time that they cared so much about you they put up with  your anger, or you could be badly hurt and deeply regret they didn't care enough.  Winter driving is tough, dangerous stuff.  Trucks are not the easiest vehicles to control in the winter.   Be patient.  Please be safe and careful.  Accidents hurt .I strongly suggest you also take the defensive driver course if you can.

  10. I think you have very smart parents. They want you to get a little experience behind the wheel before you have the distraction of other people your own age in the vehicle with you. It has been proven that the most fatalities of young inexperienced drivers is due to being distracted by a carload of their piers. Your parents just want you to be around for a while longer and don't want to get that dreaded call from the police that you were in an accident.

  11. for safety reasons yes i do yes it sucks but would you want to be responsible if your fried died if you slipped off the icy road.

  12. Yes it is Very Dangerous for Any driver on snow and Ice ......But teen drivers have no Real world experience let alone winter driving....You should talk too your Dad about taking you too some Parking lot at Night and showing you how too drive on the Ice and Snow.....Show some Interest in Becoming a more Experienced driver and Asking them too Show you the ropes may help...But Yes i do agree....My son waited till he was 18 too get his and his first winter he rolled his car....FACT...PS he was OK Thank God.

  13. More than fair.  Your parents aren't being strict, they are being responsible and they are doing it because they love you.  I know you are probably rolling your eyes right now, but I swear it's true ;-)

  14. Well, if they said that you couldn't drive because of the ice,

    Then I'd understand.

I wouldn't WANT to be driving on icy roads.

But if they're telling you that just for the h**l of telling you what to do,

Then that's completely & totally not fair.
