  1. You thought wrong.  All of the written material, and the website, have said you'd get UP TO $600 per person.  Apparently you missed or chose to ignore the UP TO.

Normally for a rebate, the most you get is what you paid.  For this one, congress set a $300 minimum payment, so you and your spouse are getting much MORE that you actually paid in, getting $600 for the two of you rather than just your tax of $182.  Plus the $300 for your child.

  2. how about you stop being greedy and be grateful for what you have been given

  3. You have to make a certain amount of money to receive the higher refund like myself made $77K last year they say I'll get $1800 but we shall see.

My friend who is married filing jointly with 3 Kids only got $1500 they made $36K last year.

  4. sorry you got so much negativity in here. the reason the government is giving out these stimulus checks is to help people out, the economy, and basicaly boost morale. think of it as a pizza party at school.

but, a lot of people, not just you, thought we were getting the 600 each and 300 for each kid across the board. But, nope. Bummer. Kinda like a carrot was dangled in front of our faces.

I know a lot said "free" money..and that is what the government wanted us to treat it as...go buy TVs, computers, down payment on a car, furniture, etc...but, wtih gas prices the way they are and how those prices are upping the price of every other necessity we have...our money is going there.

    Good luck with everything

  5. The basis range of the stimulus for married filing jointly was $600 up to $1200.  Virtually no one bothered to pay attention to the "up to" part and just assumed they'd get $1200. (Either that or there are a lot of Americans who need remedial English!)

If you qualified and your net tax liability was less than $600, you got at least $600.  If your net tax liability was more than $1200, you only qualified for the maximum of $1200.  If your tax bill had been inbetween, you would have gotten your tax bill back.

Your tax liabilty was $182, so you and your spouse got the minimum of $600.  That means you got $418 MORE than you paid in tax, so you actually got "free money."

  6. Did you owe anyone money? The IRS has been taking delinquent payments out of stimulus checks.
