SWR on radio aerial?

do i need to swr my aerial in really?

You will be transmitting from the coax if you don't get the SWR low 1to5 or better. It will also have the effect of reducing your output power as all the signal will not be reaching the antenna. The output transistors will overheat and burn out. Worst of all you will incur the wrath of your neighbours as their tele's go haywire.

standing wave ratio?your aeriel is normally 50 ohms-75ohms.The swr has to be very badly out to make a big difference.I gather you are into cb radio,normally up to one to five is ok.If it is working satisfactorily as it is ,leave it.IT CAN BE CHECKED WITH AN SWR METER IF YOU OR A FRIEND HAS ONE.

if you can match your ariel to 1.1 which is a  not really possible .1.1.5 is ok .but what ariel are you useing .zepp g5rv inverted Lvertical yagi you dont say.ham since 1988.

Yes-the higher your SWR, the more power is reflected back into your transmitter instead of going out on the air. Different frequencies need different antennas...check that your impedance matches also.

yes, you will over work the out put tranny and can damage the radio and interfere with other items not just in your house but streets away
