Safe to download torrents?

Question

I was wondering if it was possible to download torrents with iphide on. THis way is it possible to hide your ip from RIAA and MPAA?

Hello,

If you are downloading copyrighted material from BitTorrent then it is illegal for you to do so. Whenever you initiate a download or upload, you will be giving off your ip address, no matter what you do. So, you're ISP will always know that you are downloading or uploading material, however, if you have encryption turned on, they will not be able to determine what material it is that you are downloading/uploading. However if the authorities request logs of transfers from the ISP and the ISP gives it to them, then it might be trouble.

So, to be on the safe side I wouldn't trust iphide or any other such software that gives the false impression of providing anonymity.
