Safety in japan?

Question

Ok i am female and 13 years old i want to go to japan once i am 15, and go to Genki High school

i want to be staying with a relative and Genki is in Tenjin its in the heart of Fukuoka City in Kyushu, in south Japan. One of the safest places ever.

The site on Genki Jacs high says i should be at least 13 to go for safety all my friends agree 15 is a great age my mother wants me to go at SEVENTEEN!!!! when i will be a year away from being classified as an adult in the U.S.

When it says it is perfectly safe for a 12 YEAR OLD to go there I will be going outside rarely and i am going there solely to study the language do you think my mother is being a tad overprotective?And should let me go?

Your relative in Japan would know best about safety and she will advise your mother best

so if u don't go now stay safe in the US, do your studies at school (do well) + make sure u go when the time is right and u can go

Compared to the U.S., Japan is very safe. If your staying with a relative it should be fine. However I think your mother has a good right to worry. You need to spend time showing your mother that it is safe. See if you can find someone to contact her from Japan and answer all her questions.

I should warn you that you have to be "street smart"  and do things for safety that you would do in your own home town. For example, dont walk home alone at night, stay away from weird people etc.   Yes, Japan is pretty safe but not %100
