Why is it when you get directions to go from say A to B then need to get directions back from B to A the Sat Nav will very often give you a different route from the original ?

  1. perhaps the first route is not the shortest route on the way back, what settings are your unit set too?

  2. Sat nav tries to give the most direct route, this is not always the best one, even with latest software that reports road works accidents etc it can give occasional false information, depending upon the unit and specifications it may give you a different route back for many reasons such as one way streets, dual carraige ways and junctions and even accidents that have happened since you began the journey, I use mine more as a general pointer rather than taking it as exact and sometimes I even ignore the directions it gives me.

  3. One way streets

    Restricted motorway junctions
