  1. My daughter has a Navman she thinks is brilliant.

  2. I have a Garmin Nuvi 350 and absolutely love it. I bought it from www.buydig.com, they generally have great prices on GPS units, but check around. It's selling for between $200-$250 now.

If you know what features are important to you, do some research on different models with different manufacturers. Check around the web for pricing too, I would avoid the big box stores like Best Buy, Circuit City etc. simply because they're more expensive. The one benefit of going to these stores is to play with the units they have to get a feel for which you prefer.

Check out this site for a compare & contrast of all major brands: www.gpsreview.net. They have great information(features/reviews/pricing) and usually point you off to sites which have great deals on the units.

Garmin, TomTom and Magellan are the most popular and have been around the longest, so are very user friendly.

    Good luck

It is not perfect but it takes away a lot of the stress.  I Think they all have their pros and cons. Go on to the Amazon web site where there is user feed back for different types. Good luck

  4. I had a Navman but found it worse than useless.  On a journey from Derbyshire to Tyneside I was at Ferrybridge (S Yorks) before it picked up a GPS signal.

I've since bought a Tom Tom and I can get connected  to 8 satellites indoors!!

  5. Ive got a tom tom and think its just great. Its got voice navigation and touch screen, but I think in general they all have
