Satellite radio-replace sirius with xm?

My new car came with Sirius in the dash....can I switch to XM without having the external box?

  1. Not right now.

    The MAY merge but there's much resistance to it happening.

    If they do not merge, there has been talk of a universal satellite tuner that will work on both. You can always replace your in dash model for an in dash XM receiver.

  3. well they r going to join together anyway soon i think but u can by one a radio shack for cheap. i would wait to see what happens with the merger before you spend money. but i like the way u think. Sirius rocks!

  5. There are some places on the internet that sell the converters.  I don't know much about them or where to find them though.

  6. Depends on the manufacturer but in almost all cases ... Nope.. if you want XM, youre stuck with that outside box...
