Save The Date Wording?

Question

Having a beach themed wedding on Catalina Island. Need ideas for SAVE THE DATES! Not invitations.

I am making my own personal invitations and save the date cards. I need the save the date card because its a destination wedding. Yes, the invitation will soon follow with much more details. What Im looking for is the wording. Something cute with a beach feel rather then bride and groom invite you on their wedding day. Save the day for August 10th 2009.

You could do a beach themed design, graphic, or background and keep the wording traditional ...

I designed mine on powerpoint and uploaded them to vistaprint.com and was very pleased with how they turned out!! They were cheap too!

What came to mind for unique save the dates as soon as you said "Destination wedding" was luggage tags.

You can go to a $2 shop and buy a whole lot of cheap ones and stick magnets to the back so they go on the fridge instead of on a bag.

Then get some paper in your wedding colour to replace the card inside and buy a sheet of kids stickers that are sea shells or other beachy things.

Cut the paper (to the size of the address card out of the luggage tag) and put a beach sticker in the top left corner.

On the rest of your tag write something like...

<Bride> and <Groom> would like to say...

Pack your bags for our wedding day!

On August 10th 2009

We will wed far away, where the weather is fine.

So please save the date and keep it clear

So you can be there with us next year!

Keep it simple for these. State "save the date for our beach wedding" or "we can't wait to see you on the beach" and specify that an invitation will follow. If you have a wedding website, put the url there also.

These are literally to remind people to save the date. You can state the name of the city and state (this is good for people coming from out of state, etc.) and the date, but anything more specific than that, they can wait for the invitation.
