Scared about flying?!?!?

On Friday, I'm taking a three hour flight to Boston, It's my first time? Is it scary? Please HELP!

Look, if you have the brains to go to Harvard, you are way past smart enough to believe in reason and logic over fear and emotion.  The fact is very clear and well documented that the biggest risk to your health on this trip is the drive to the airport.

Regarding the other stuff, don't worry about getting sick or ear blocks.  That is a rare event.  You are more likely to come down with a cold.   And don't begin to be afraid of an occasional bump - it is just that, like hitting a wave in a speedboat.  Get a window seat where you can enjoy the neatest view of the world you have ever had!  Have a great flight!

dont worry i was in a flight to hawaii and it was 12 hours long but flying is just like a car ride but way smoother you'll like it dont worry

It's not that bad my first flight was 9 hours to Scotland.  If you are really freaking out about it though ask your doctor for Xanax or Valium.

There is no sensation of height, you must be attached to the ground in some way, as being in a tall building to have a sensation of height.  There is no sensation of speed.  Enjoy the free peanuts.

Don't worry I am sure you will get no problems.My first time flying I got an ear pack.you should pack some chewing gum for that.Oh yeah if you fell like you want to throw up on rides, that's how the airplane feels, so if you are like that please bring along a vomit bag and some gravol.

No, there are rarely commercial crashes.  Just ask yourself what is the worst thing that could happen.  You are 356x more likely to get in a car or boating accident.  They are 15 times safer than commercial cruise liners.  Rollercoasters are more likely to break.

If you've ever ridden on a bus, you then know what its like to ride a commercial flight, only smoother. You will probably like it once you've done it.

Flying is still by far the safest form of public transportation that we have.
