The River Islanders’ manager complimented Augsburg’s strategy after his team faced a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Bavarian outfit.
Werder Bremen head coach Thomas Schaaf was full of praise for Augsburg after they beat his side by an emphatic 3-1 scoreline. He paid tribute to their Bundesliga rivals after they registered their first win of the campaign,
as they failed to secure victory in their last six games.

were more determined in their tackling, and pressed close to the ball.
"We were too passive and Augsburg were more committed to the tackles and always closer to the ball," he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The tactician further added that his side could not dominate the match and did not threaten their rivals defence at all. Moreover, he admitted that Die Werderaner are making too many errors while attacking and are not playing
up to the level to cause any problems to their competitors.
"We were unable to free ourselves from them and disturb our opponents,” he stated.
"Furthermore, we are committing too many mistakes in our build-up play and are not playing with enough assurance to cause our opponents problems,” he added.
The manager stressed that a performance like this will never make them win matches. However, Augsburg boss Markus Weinzierl was happy with the result and a bit relieved to be out of the relegation zone. It was his first win
in the Bundesliga and he was glad with the accolade.
Weinzierl maintained that the victory will give them a major boost for the rest of the season. He confirmed that the team did not get demoralised after Bremen levelled the game, and continued their attacking play.
"We are relieved because we have been able to reward ourselves for our efforts," he finally concluded.
Finally, the coach claimed that Augsburg played really well and were worthy winners, as they kept the Bremen strikers at bay.
