School Wrestiling?

I am wanting to wrestle this coming school year but have never done it before and want to know how the tryouts work. I mean if you have to wrestle for tryouts won't only the people who wrestled before make it?

No i wrestle and if your strong youll have a good chance half of how good a wretler you are is how strong you are.

As for moves you should learn the basics in a couple practices[

Just get yourself in really good shape

im sure the coaches put experience into consideration. dont worry about it, remember no matter how hard it gets dont quit.

most schools don have try outs just cuts for wimps

strength isnt everything in wrestling

it helps but having speed and good teqnique is important

Good luck man!  Stay hydrated and develop a running program.  Ask your wrestling coach how to do that.  It will make a huge difference.

Most teams I've known don't do "tryouts" but they will do something to allow wrestlers to challenge each other for JV and Varsity spots.  This is usually done on a weekly basis as a head-to-head match.

Generally there are a few weeks of practice before you need to do any kind of challenge so you'll have a chance to learn a few things.  In the meantime, get into as good of shape as you can.  You need endurance, strength, and flexibility.  Run and do as much ab work as you can handle, those are the most important muscle group in the sport.

i've never been on a wrestling team that cut people, wrestling tends to make the people who can't make it quit on their own very quickly.

if you're asking if you will make varsity, yes you will have to wrestle other people for it, and as its your first year you will probably lose, so what? keep coming back and you'll get better, everyone starts somewhere.
