Schooling Issues? Help!?

Ohkay, so here's the deal. I just finished 9th grade in public schooling. Next year, however, I have decided with my family that I would be cyberschooled. I live in a small town & I have no issue with seeing anybody considering all my friends live around me. I planned on taking some extra activities at a gym, so that's not an issue, either. Considering my situation, though, what does everyone think would suit me best, especially those of you who had been enrolled in cyberschool?

  1. Make sure the college you want to go to will accept it, and make sure it's an accredited school.

  2. Check to see if your local school board or state runs a cyber program. If not, there are private ones available. I know several people who use k12.com and Oak Meadow. There are also software curriculums that are not cyber school programs but could be used instead. Switched On Schoolhouse and Abeka both offer this type of program.

  3. Are you self-motivated and focused?  If so, then cyberschool can be a great thing.  Are your parents willing to act as your mentors?  Can you self-teach?

If you can do all the above, then why not try it?  If it doesn't work out, you can always transfer back to your B&M public school.

It's really only an answer you can make yourself.  I would have loved it had the choice been available when I was in school 20+ years ago!  :-)

Cyberschools are still public schools, so to transfer back to a B&M school if it doesn't work should be easy, and you shouldn't lose any of your credits.
