  1. I wonder if you mean the crest of a wave?  The crest of a wave is the very top, where it curls.  The word "crest" usually means high, at the top, overlooking other things.  You'll find the term used as the name for many hotels, B&Bs, marinas, and other businesses that overlook, or are close to, the ocean.


  2. I have been told that "sea crest" means at the water's edge (which is the crest) where the waves hit.  I have also heard "sea crest" referred to as the "top" of the ocean (like when you are cresting a hill - meaning going over the top of the hill) - so if you "crest the sea", you are riding over the top of the sea.
