Question:

Sears Over charged ME?

I had some vent cleaning recently and the guy that came over overcharged me. I called customer service and they were no help. I also talked with his supervisor and he did absolutely nothing. Is there anyone above him who I could contact or someone who could help me solve my problem.

  1. You should document (in a letter) the problem thoroughly.   Send it to the Store Manager.

Include what was supposed to be charged and what was actually charged.

Don't get emotional in this letter.

End the letter telling the manager what you expect (refund, what amount, apology).

Wait 2 weeks.  Send him a reminder, and copy the State Attorney General Consumer Fraud Division.  (at the end of the letter:

.cc State Attorney General, Consumer Fraud Division

The store manager will see this and probably resolve it.  Otherwise, he has to spend more (lawyer fees) defending his practices than he does by resolving the issue.

I had a problem with Circuit City a few years ago.  I followed this process and ended up with a new HD TV, delivered and set up, and they reimbursed me for a TV I bought from another  store whie I was waiting for them to resolve it.  Altogether, it cost them over $3500.

    Good luck

  2. If you paid with a credit card, contact the company ASAP

Do you have good paperwork verifying this over payment?
