  1. I think on the freeway fine, to the store your choice.

  2. I like it, sometimes the government needs to save stupid people from themselves.

  3. If people don't have enough self-value of their own lives (and those of their families, who depend on them to stay alive), then at least they can be bound by the law to not encroach on my life.

When two vehicles have a head-on collision and somebody isn't wearing a seatbelt, the odds are not bad that one of those bodies is going to fly out their front windshield and hit my vehicle.

I do not want to deal with bodies flying all over the place, as it is both dangerous and psychologically traumatic.

It isn't just about personal safety, in my opinion, it's also about respect for those motorists around you and their safety and mental health.

Think about what you'd go through if you had your kids in the car witness an accident in which people flew out of the vehicle and died on the pavement in front of them.

Because it happens, and it's not pretty.

    Personally, I'm grateful it's law.

I see enough people break the law even with it being strictly enforced.

The worst offenders I've seen are, oddly enough, people with a bunch of kids in mini-vans.

For some reason, these folks think that their van has some magical protection system that a car or truck doesn't, and that their precious cargo will not be seriously injured or killed if they get in an accident (which they're likely to do, since they're often talking on a cell phone at the same time).

People- the mini-vans aren't magic- your kid can get thrown out of any of its many windows and/or be tossed like a rag-doll within it if you are in an accident.

    BUCKLE UP.

  4. I was almost killed in a car crash. Thank gawd I WASN'T wearing one.

  5. I agree w/ that law & I think everyone should obey it.

  6. I am strongly against the seatbelt laws of various states.  (some states don't have seatbelt or helmet laws)

    It's natural selection.

Most laws are in place to protect people from one another.  You don't drive drunk because you can injure or kill someone else with your recklessness.

However you can only injure or kill yourself without your seatbelt.  I believe adults should be ticketed or fined for not securing their children.  But over the age of 18, we should have the choice.

Seems like just another way for state governments to get ticket money milked out of drivers.

Edit: speaking of not wearing a seatbelt saving you, sometimes they malfunction and trap people in burning cars, or more fatal positions after a car crashes.  Sure it'll protect you from going through a windshield, but if law wants to be so adamant about it, can we progress seatbelt technology.  They've barely changed in 50 years.

  7. well i have gotton  so used to the seatbelt law so much in the movie i thought to put my seatbelt on and my boyfriend was like what are you doing!!

  8. I think that once u are 18 you should be able to decide for yourself, police have more important things to deal with like predators and drug dealers. Just another way for them to raise funds is what it really boils down to. I'm glad that I still drive an older car with automatic belts so I dont actually have to buckle in otherwise i would have probably donated to the cause more than once by now.
