I heard on Sportscenter that potentially Winnipeg and Seattle are two possible places that could get an nhl team either from relocation or expansion. What are your thoughts?

  1. im guessing your too young to remember the jets of winnipeg but it sounds like a bad idea, although hockey may go over well in seattle

  2. KC and winnipeg have already had teams and failed. There are already too many teams in the NHL in bad locations. But if you were a true hockey fan instead of a bandwagon jumper, you would know that.

  3. I think Spokane should get a team as a reward for winning and breaking the Memorial Cup.  The breaking it actually got hockey more noticed.  LOL

  4. Bring back the Winnipeg Jets I say! Come on bring back 2 more teams from Canada and 2 more from America! Saskatchewan could have a team, just take all our boys from SK and put them on the team, that Kunitz, Getzlaf, Hartnell, Morrow. Sorry to many to name but you get my drift. 4 more teams should be added, and 2 more slots for playoffs should be inserted! 2 on both sides!

  5. Winnipeg failed once before so it will be hard to get another team there.  Seattle just lost their basketball team, so maybe.  But Vegas or KC will most likely get the next team.

  6. i dont know about seattle, but the city of winnipeg really wants one, and the premier of manitoba used that in his recent campaign to be elected that he would do everything he could to bring back the jets. problem is, winnipegs new rink is perfect for the ahl, but does not have enough seating for the nhl. so ticket prices would be high, and farmers dont really have oodles of cash.  seattle would be a good place to, lots of hockey down there, few dub teams and the nucks for a good rival.

  7. i dont think thei will be a new nhl team soon if the panthers move i would be happy but until then no and if they move they would try Kansas City a great market

  8. Las Vegas would be before either....probably KC too. I can't see Winnipeg. Seattle? Maybe down the road.

  9. Winnipeg --- oil money with fanatical support. The oil money can help to build a bigger, 18000-seat arena; while the fanatical support sustains any NHL team there. Islanders should move there if they can! They will have a comparatively bigger and more committed market base there as compared to the overcrowded New York hockey market.

Seattle --- I thought the Canucks or Sharks will do? Given the recent debacle on Supersonics moving to the Okies, maybe an NHL move will be closer to reach than ever. However, Seattle needs a brand new arena. And I thought it has the Huskies and the Mariners and the Seahawks? Why should it have another NHL team when the market potential for the Pacific Northwest is still limited, and not lucrative enough (compare this to Texas or California)?

Quebec City and Hartford --- proven small-market NHL teams. If NHL wants to regain American and Canadian popularity, especially in Quebec and New England, it may expand there. If not, just wait till the cities hit one million in metropolitan population.

Houston --- Can it even support the Texans and even the Rockets, who are always at the losing end?

Oklahoma City and Kansas City --- Aggressive in bidding for new arenas, but unproven hockey markets.

Halifax/St John's --- A unified Maritime Canada NHL team, with the people and the love for hockey. I would strongly recommend this market to NHL for future expansion/relocation.

  10. Better still, move the Coyotes, Panthers and Thrashers to those cities. Ottawa may be next. I'm not sure the city can support the team, as popular as the Sens are.

Quebec City was robbed of its team and Denver brags it is a winner, but most Avs fans don't know the original Colorado Rockies team became the NJ Devils.  QC has more of a right to a team than Seattle. I say give Winnepeg another chance. Manitoba is hockey mad.

Move Detroit to the Eastern Conference, where all but Chicago are old rivals.

But the league has too many teams already. Expansion will only make things worse.

  11. I think MB should try 2 get the Coyotes & turn 'em back n2 the Jets that they once were. Phoenix, AZ has one 2 many hockey teams; I think they have a ECHL team called the Roadrunners who play against my Bakersfield Condors. I think Seattle used 2 have a NHL team long ago. I'm not sure if they need a NHL team as I assumed the Seattelites would cheer 4 the Canucks up the coast.

  12. I would rather Winnipeg have a team. It's insane to think there's not a single NHL team from Calgary all the way to Toronto.

Personally though I would rather Quebec City get a team again, cuz Le Colisee Pepsi needs sellout crowds more often than just during the peewee tournament. "Tse keske j'veux dire callice?" (Ya know what I mean?)

Vegas sorry Bob, but you'd have to make sure Janet Gretzky and Rich Tocchet don't go on that "road trip". Ditto any recovering alcoholics. (A lot of casinos give "comp" drinks though it's recommended you tip the waitress)

The province of Saskatchewan is beyond crazy about hockey, but the city that gets it would dominate the local economy and the others would feel left out with junior hockey teams who obviously don't bring in as much revenue.

  13. Could they please put a team back in Hartford and someone pay the Hurricanes a buttload of money so we can get the Whalers back.....PLEASE

  14. Good for them. Bring a team to Cleveland while they are at it.
