Self-learn or tutor?

Does self-learning allow you to accelerate etc and somewhat make you 'smarter'

Self-learning or tutoring? and why?

Both have to come into play in education.  Self-learning can be a wonderful thing, and I think that self-learners ARE smarter, but not all students know how to self-learn.  Teachers and tutors are necessary to guide students, to teach them critical thinking,  self-discipline, and to motivate them to be curious and to enjoy learning.

So, both methods together will produce well-rounded students.
