Hi there,

I was wondering if someone could tell me of the best way to sell a car on the web. I was thinking of Ebay or Auto Trader but wasn't sure which is the best. For the record it is a Jaguar X-Type and I am hoping to get about 15k.

Is it possible to sell it on both of these sites simultaneously?

Or which is the best way to go about selling this car..

  1. If your in the UK Ebay and Auto Trader are the main sites but expensive, you could try Gumtree, be aware your make and model of car are oversupplied and in free fall so trading in can be a good option if the price is right.

  2. Yes you can list it on as many sites as you want. Just be sure and remove the listings when you sell. And the only people that shop for cars on the web are bargain hunters, so be sure and set the reserve price around what you want to get for it.

Best advice I can give...trade it in and let the dealership worry about reselling the car.

  3. E H has it right... go to craigslist i just got my camaro rs from there... also some other things... and the best part....... ITS FREE.... just be aware of scammmmmmers... good luck selling ur car...

  4. I would go with Craigslist first.  It's free.

Ebay charges a set $40 listing fee and then $40 selling fee.

Auto Trader charges a significan fee as well.

Put it up on Craigslist first.

BTW, I would not recommend trading it in.  The stealership will give you peanuts for it, and then turn around and sell it for thousands more.  Selling on your own is slightly more hassle, but you're more likely to get your asking price.  Trading a car in is more convenient, but you'll be lucky to get half of what you're asking for.
