Sensitive after I shaved?

Hallo thar. I started shaving today (upper lip, chin, and jawline) and I've touched my upper lip and below my nose where I shaved and it's very sensitive. It wasn't really like this before, and it kinda feels a little weird. Am I supposed to be this sensitive?

(Yes, I did use shaving cream)

  1. If you mean sensitive in a painful way, it's probably because your hands are dirty and/or you didn't wash your skin properly after shaving. It might be razor bumps, razor cuts (you might not see them because they are small, but they still hurt - think paper cuts).

If you mean sensitive in a "more aware of the touch" way, it's normal - both skin and hair have mechanoreceptors (what makes you "feel"). The hair ones are less important to your body, because in an evolutionary way, they are less important: they're meant for proximity to the skin, while  skin receptors are jam-packed with receptors to be able to give information about what is stimulating them.

p.s.: Make sure you use the correct shaving cream for your skin, it can help a lot. If you aren't sure you have the correct one, you can always try various ones. Not sure how that can hurt you :)
