tomorrow, i am running the 800/880 in a very competitive track meet. i will be expected to keep a pace that one would run during the 400 (nearly a sprint). when we, in practice, do 400's on the track, i experience such oxygen debt that it hurts. badly. i dont have asthma.

i need to know how to breathe during a near-full-out sprint for an entire half mile. any other tips on running the 800 would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Hi,

I used "Credit Solution" to settle my debt and improve my credit score. They managed to reduce my debt up to 58% .It's legitimate.I came across this company on NBC News Special Edition.Check it out here:

  2. Personally, I do have asthma and sometimes I don't have my inhaler but I still have to run the 800. My advice would be to try and accelerate your breathing at the starting line and try to get as much air into your lungs as you can. Then if your lungs cramp up during the race, take deep breaths even though it is difficult.

  3. i had the same problem, i would reccommend slowing to 85%on corners and sprinting on straightways.  this way you can get power back from the corners for the straightways. Also eat a healthy diet with lots of grain and fruit. this will make sure body is ready to take on that extremely long sprint. I would also recommend adding 5 seconds to your 400m dash on your first lap you can save the extra 5 seconds for the win!! and if you are a fairly good runner, breathe in and out of your mouth, if you are beginner( time for 400m is more than 1:10) breathe in through your nose and out through the mouth

hope i helped and didn't damage anything, dont take this advice if you feel uncomfortable with doing it
