Seriously... the chicken or the egg???

i'm really bored and i just started thinking about this, is there seriously an answer??

Well, yes, but it's a real nerdy kind of answer.

The egg came first, because there were many kinds of birds around, as as well as egg-laying reptiles, long before there were chickens.

The egg. Organisms laid eggs long before chickens evolved. ;]

But a chicken egg or a chicken? A chicken. Say Organism A is evolving, and they're slowly evolving into the modern day chicken. That organism can't lay a chicken egg until the species has completely evolved to be chickens.

That's probably way oversimplified, but it's for the sake of making my point. :D
