Question:

Sewage pumps?

how do they work. Ive seen a few houses with these smallish cylinder tanks that is suppose to pump out the sewage? Are they automatic or manual or do they have both? please explain.

  1. Installing a Kanooter Valve would work.


  2. They are usually automatic, but I guess you could set them up to run manually from a switch if you wanted too.

    Basically they are sump or sludge pumps designed to handle a lot of solid material in the water.

    For home use they are normally set in a fairly small sump that handles a shower or bath, and a toilet flush or two before pumping.

    It is fairly common to run the foundation drain into the sump too.

    In an application like that automatic is best because you really don't want sewage flooding your basement if somebody forgets to run the pump.

  3. are you talking about a septic tank?  if you are then a septic tank is just a storage tank for sewage,  perhaps there is no sewer pipes to connect to nearby, in which case a septic tank would store up the waste till full at which time a lorry can come and empty it

  4. I prefer red patent leather pumps, myself.
