Shampoo before or after the gym?

I go to the gym five days a week and I'm trying to figure out whether it is more beneficial to shampoo when I first wake up in the morning, and allow the sweat oils to remain on my hair after working out, however increased, or if it is better to remove the amount of oils from my scalp post-workout. (I always shower after going to the gym, but I don't always shampoo) My hair is fairly normal and I notice no real difference whether I shampoo in the morning or after a workout, but I'm wondering about the effects the increase in oils from sweating has on the scalp, and whether it is beneficial or not to leave it. Thanks for any help

  1. Ewww. Shampoo it after your hair is sweaty so you don't smell bad.


  2. Its a popular misconception that you need to shampoo your hair every day. I usually wash my hair every other day, or otherwise it gets really dried out. I shower every day thou.

    The natural oils in your hair are benefical, its what keeps it healthy and smooth, so I think your best bet would be not to shower at the gym, but wait to wash your hair in the morning.
