  1. it drives me nuts when you watch them, Monica Seles used to do it and so does one of the Williams sisters.

  2. Yes, I think its real.

Yes, she probably is distracting the other player

This is allowed just like trash talking is allowed in basketball. If somebody is on a breakway, the defender trailing can sit there and yell "Hey! You're gonna miss!"  Talented athletes just know how to tune this out and play the game they know they can play.

No, I do not wear ear plugs when I watch her games. (Granted, I lower the volume sometimes)

  3. I know I should not laugh at that but it is true.

  4. It's simply part of the power game, which is why other players, like Seles and Serena keep making a similar sound.  In any case, if a player feels that it is too much, they can always complain to the chair umpire.  Navratilova did when she played Seles at Wimbledon and Seles received a warning for it.

I doubt that they make that sound on purpose since they would have to remember to make it on every point, causing them to lose concentration on the point at hand.

  5. your a weirdo.

have you ever heard serena williams famous grunt? thats loud and distracting too.

of course sharapova is allowed, she owns the court.

and no... i dont wear earplugs...

  6. I think that is it really unfair for the player standing across the net. It might be Sharapova's strategy to keep her opponent frustrated and off guard. I think it should be banned. It's allowed because she is not harming anyone.

  7. Yes the loud grunting that Maria Sharapova does in her matches does be distracting the other player's, and it sometimes really gets to them,.but the reason that tennis officals still make maria do that is  because it's still legal and not against the rules, but she has been told at some tennis tournament's  that she would be fine if she still continued to do that in her matches,

  8. lol it is kinda annoying to hear her grunts, BUT the rule is that you can make what ever noises you want as long as the ball is on your side of the court. Once the ball is on the opponent's side of the court, she's not allowed to make any noises. If she is making noises after the ball is on the other side of the court, either the ref or the opponent should call it.

as for whether or not it's real, it probably is. it's kinda hard not to grunt when you're playing an intense match.

  9. Firstly, she's not the only one who does that.  I'm sure it can be distracting to her opponents, but it is allowed.

Secondly, for anyone who has ever taken martial arts, you would know that forcefully exhaling when performing a power move (like punching, kicking, or swinging a tennis racquet) helps to increase the power of the move.

  10. if a professional player cannot bypass that what you wanna call a loud "cheat" grunt and still play than they don't deserve to win. Like everyone says, it's not illegal. It's someone natural when you're putting that much power into a hit but it may be emphasized a bit

  11. Distraction tactic every time, they should all be banned from grunting ans squealing its just not lady like.

  12. Yeah, I think so.  This is one of her tactics to distract player in order to win matches.  Didn't you all feel that the closer the match it is the louder of her screaming will be?

For me, men's grunt or moaning sound much better compare to women's.  At least they are s**y. Don't you think so? :P
