Does anyone know any species of sharks living in the Long Island Sound?

  1. the most common is the sand tiger shark, (can reach 10 feet long) , the smooth dogfish shark (5 feet), and spiney dogfish (4 feet), blue, brown, makko, thresher,  and hammerheads are occasional inhabitants as well, mostly near the narrow entry channel to the sound. hope this helps


  2. I think we only have Sand Sharks around here. They're the only ones I've ever seen caught.
