Question:

Sharp HDTV and PS3 setup?

What is the difference in the setup at the PS3 blu-ray setting...pan scan and linear? I've tried both and I can't tell the difference . Which is better..technically? My TV also has a display option of : dot , full. Which delivers a technically better resolution?

And if someone can kindly explain which setup I should choose from the R/Y/G option? Or auto?

I plug my PS3 with a HDMI cable.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

  1. If you are connected with HDMI then you should use the Auto setting. Using the two way communication capabilities of the HDMI cable the PS3 communicates with the Television and actually sets itself to the optimum settings. I know, it sounds like Science Fiction but I swear it's true! The PS3 actually talks to the TV!

  2. LINEAR is the preferred choice because it doesn't STRETCH the picture....

In your case your TV set doesn't need the picture stretched to fit...that's why you don't see any differences...
