Sharp LCD screen repair?

Question

My 3 year old son play video game on my Sharp 19 " LCD tv . He hit the right side of the screen with the controller and the color change to diff colors like pink green yellow red.Everything is good working condition and i check the dvd its working and i can still watch movie the only thing is the different color on the side.Can I repair this or do i need to replace the screen since everything is workable? Thanks and I need an opinion,..

Hi Joanne,

Sounds like an insurance claim may be the only way to go (assuming you have accidental damage cover).

The replacement cost of an LCD panel for any LCD TV set is usually way more than the cost of a new TV.

I realise this isn't what you wanted to hear, but it's the way of the consumer electronics industry at present.

Incidentally, if you do manage to get a replacement TV set, dont forget that there are people who buy defective LCD sets for spares - just have a look over on Ebay. You'd have to list it as "Faulty - for spares or repair" to cover yourself of course.
